Top Ways to Heal a Sunburn

Summer’s here, yay! With it though comes sun and lots of it. Unfortunately, I’m one of those people that can’t stay in the sun long at all without burning, so when I got a recent sunburn, I looked for the quickest way to treat it. Now we all know just how well Aloe Vera works, but it does leave that goey feel on your skin too. After searching for awhile for an alternative method that might work a bit faster, I found that black tea is a great option. All you need to do is the following:

Black Tea Sunburn Soother:
All you need is a pitcher or bowl that you don’t mind if it gets stained a bit, a rag, water and black tea
Simply make black tea adding about 4 tea bags and pour in the pitcher/bowl
You want the tea to be pretty dark, so you might need more tea or less water
Let the tea cool and dip the rag in and apply to burn by patting on skin
Make sure that you let the tea dry on the burn and to apply it in your bathtub so that you can wash away the excess tea
*My burn was pretty bad, so I applied the tea bag directly to the burn and repeated once every hour. It didn’t work as well for me though because I found this method a day after getting burnt. TIP: The faster you apply the tea after getting burnt, the better it works.

I would also recommend going to the store and buying “Hawaiian Tropic After Sun Moisturizer.” It cools the burn, treating it with Aloe and Shea & Cocoa butters. Plus, it smells like Pina Colada!

The main thing to keep in mind is that there is no way to get rid of the burn immediately and that the best method out there is to put on lots of sunscreen to prevent them. It takes time for the skin to heal itself from a burn, but the methods above do speed up the process.
